Grass fed meat also has unarguable health benefits, Grass-fed beef has the recommended ratio of omega 6 to omega 3 fats (3:1). Grass-fed beef is loaded with other natural minerals and vitamins, plus it's a great source of CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) a fat that reduces the risk of cancer, obesity, diabetes, and a number of immune disorders.

If all those reasons are not enough here is one more, it tastes amazing!

Our Cattle are on grass, using rotational grazing or hay from birth to finish with absolutely no grain supplement. We are a family who works with grass and animals to produce some of the testiest meat you have ever eaten. We select and raise the best breeds/genetics suited for a foraging diet. Rotating the cattle through well managed pastures creates well marbled meat. This way of raising cattle ensures a healthy ecology as well as an exceptional flavour. 

We feel the more you know about where your meat comes from the better. Buying locally is smart; it reduces trucking and grows the local economy. You can feel good knowing the same beef you are eating; we also feed to ourselves and our family! You can be assured all animals have the best quality of life.

 2012 was our first year to be offering authentically grass/hay fed beef. It was overwhelming the demand for this type of beef, and for good reason. People are really starting to understand “you are what you eat!”

A ruminant's (cow, sheep, goat) gut is normally a pH-neutral environment, best suited to a diet of grasses. It is not well suited to a diet of corn and other grains, the primary fare of feedlot cattle. High in starch, low in roughage and a poor source of calcium and magnesium, corn upsets the cow's stomach, making it unnaturally acidic. Not only is this harmful to the cow, but it allows a whole range of parasites and diseases to gain a foothold, including the pathogenic E. coli 0157:H7 bacterium. We are no longer able to kill this bacterium off anymore because we now have the same acid level in our guts as a corn/grain fed animal.  2002 New York Times Magazine article, "By acidifying a cow's gut with corn, we have broken down one of our food chain's barriers to infections."

As a mother of four healthy, beautiful children this information really concerned me, and although my husband and I were raised on farms that fed grains, we knew it was time for a change!!  

Cattle are butchered by a government certified local butcher, cut to your specifications. Our grass fed/finished, growth hormone and, antibiotic free beef is $6 / lb. This is for BULK orders only ( a whole, half, or quarter of an animal on hanging weight) this includes ground beef, ribs, bones, roasts and steaks ( organs are included if you order a half or a whole).
